The Harvey Hohauser & Associates Search Model

I. Initial Consultation

• Meet with senior management, hiring managers and decision-makers to   prepare a thorough job description.
• Identify the Hiring Authority and maintain contact with them throughout the   search process.
• Interview staff members to understand the organizational culture, skill levels   and identify the management personality that best fits the position in question.
• Prepare a complete Position Profile and send it to the Hiring Authority for   approval.

II. Research & Preparation

• Work with HH&A, Director of Research, to prepare a list of target corporations,   or governmental organizations, or professional associations, or educational   institutions that would be appropriate networking contacts for this assignment.
• Plan and implement research strategies with HH&A Client Services Director.
• Complete a database search of all individuals within the HH&A system who   have required skills for this position.
• Post position opening on Internet sites and with outplacement companies   when they are appropriate.
• Send out mailings to target private network contacts with the Position Profile   and a HH&A personal letter.
• When appropriate prepare advertisement for targeted trade journals,   newspapers and magazines.

III. Candidate Screening, Analysis & Interviewing

• As names begin to be generated, thorough telephone and in-person interviews   will be undertaken. No individual will be sent to meet a client without our   primary face-to-face interview first.
• After candidates have been interviewed a Comparative Candidate Matrix will
  be prepared of the top 5-6 individuals, comparing their employment history,   technical skills, and management experience - along with resumes and other   supporting documents.
• A personal meeting is held between HH&A consultant and the Hiring Authority   to discuss each candidate. Formal interviews will be scheduled at that time.
• Candidates will then meet with management. A HH&A consultant usually is   present to facilitate these interviews.

IV. Closure: Candidate Evaluation, Negotiations & Offer Completion

• A discussion is held after the first round of interviews between HH&A   consultant and the employer to determine differences between each   candidates, strengths / weaknesses, and who shall be asked back for further   discussion. Selected finalists receive personality inventory tests.
• Subsequent interviews are arranged.
• A final candidate is chosen. HH&A will conduct thorough reference
  verifications which include credit check, verification of degrees / certifications   preparation of   Confidential Candidate Report including interviews with
  personal and professional references.
• The offer is negotiated with the winning candidate, typically by HH&A   consultant.
• Celebrate!

V. Three Month Follow-up Consultation

• Client corporation contacted to assess the acclimation of our placement. If   required HH&A consultant will meet with candidate and corporation client to   assist in future adjustment
