THE COMPANY:
Established over thirty years ago, our privately-held corporate client is entering its third generation of family leadership. With its world headquarters in central Michigan, additional manufacturing and distribution facilities are located in three (3) other states. Owners of six vertically integrated businesses, they manufacture a variety of construction / industrial and building products including 100+ patented applications for commercial, industrial, military and residential. Employing 650 they have experienced both significant growth and profitability this past decade and their sales exceed $200M.

Competing with other major world class corporations it is the appropriate time in the company’s history to select a CEO with a track record of accomplishment that includes vision, strategic planning and implementation, leadership and total accountability. This is a family based culture with a strong emphasis on trustworthiness, honesty, and integrity. As the “face” and spokesperson of the corporation, the selected candidate will be expected to enhance these traditional values as they continue to adjust and grow over the next decade. The candidate must have distinguished themselves in manufacturing operations, industrial markets and commercial marketing. A demonstrated ability to develop strong management teams is essential for success in this position. He/she will have the professional experience and personal characteristics to establish credibility and competence that contribute to the sustained profitable management and growth of each of the companies.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reports directly to the Board of Directors.
- Provides overall executive leadership for all aspects of operations, sales, customer relations and has responsibility and accountability for the staff, programs, and services.
- Leads the Senior Management Team.
- Direct reports include Operations, Engineering, Marketing/Sales, Quality Assurance and Finance.
- Works with sales and engineering team that will create an integrated approach to the customer.
- Oversees pricing and quotation policies and best practices to achieve long term strategic and financial goals.
- Planning, control and management of day-to-day operations.
- Oversees all operating systems.
- Initiate and manage the implementation of communication and corporate policies with clients, staff, and vendors.
- Develops and leads staffing requirements, employee training, and designing organizational structures to insure optimum productivity/labor cost relationships.
- Establishes organization standards for cost control, R&D, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete on-time delivery.
- Responsible for quarterly and annual management review process.
- Plans, coordinates and assists in the development and execution of short/long term programs to achieve stated goals.
- Represents Corporation at appropriate functions.
- Nurtures an atmosphere of cooperation, communication and synergy between all entities.
- Manages and implements all company growth strategies, processes, and activities.
THE SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Bachelors Degree in business, finance or engineering required. MBA highly preferred.
- 10 years of senior management experience running an organization involving full P&L, balance sheet, capital structures and growth responsibilities.
- Proven track record as Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operations Officer, Vice President of Operations, or President.
- Ability to manage a fast paced and entrepreneurial environment.
- Strongly demonstrated leadership and communication skills involving employees, customers, peers, and suppliers.
- Highly focused, organized, analytical thinker who initiates as apposed to reacts.
- Flexible to new ideas and new directions; e.g., lean manufacturing and Six Sigma.
- Successful experience with financial and operational planning and labor cost management.
- Capable of operating within a disciplined, high quality, growth environment.
- Proven written and presentation skills.
- Strong Midwestern work ethic; e.g. “roll-up your sleeves” leader.
- Computer literate must be proficient in many of the standard packages.
- A proactive team leader with a proven “take-charge” record of accomplishment.
- Hands-on, customer driven manager.
