THE COMPANY:

Established in 1987 our client corporation designs and develops safe, state-of-the-art real-time x-ray inspection systems for industrial, commercial and governmental applications. Based on Long Island, they have additional operations in New England, the southern U.S., France, India and China. They anticipate new product sales and geographic expansion will position them to achieve significant, sustainable double-digit growth.


THE OPPORTUNITY:
Reporting directly to the Founder, the VP of Finance position directs the administrative and strategic affairs of the organization related to all financial activities; recommends to management major economic objectives, policies and opportunities. They prepare or direct preparation of reports, which summarize and forecast business activity and the companies financial position in areas of income, expenses, earnings and cash flow based on past, present, and expected operations. The VP of Finance will be an integral part of the executive management team and will actively participate in the future visioning of the company as it grows both organically and with acquisitions.

SKILL AREAS:

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Reports to the Owner/Founder.
• Member of Executive Management Team.
• Leadership and oversight of the operation of accounting and controllership functions.
• Primary interface with outside CPA, banking and legal teams related to audit reporting and compliance issues.
• Oversee accounting policies and systems; i.e., general ledger, income statement, balance sheet, etc.
• Responsible for the overall accuracy of records of earnings, profits, cash, sales and payroll.
• Provides financial analysis to identify continuous growth and efficiency opportunities.
• Prepares financial forecasts and budgets.
• Recruitment, selection, mentoring, retention and evaluation of accounting staff.
• Monitors and analyzes cash flow.
• Actively participates in the qualification and integration of strategic business acquisitions.
• Coach and mentor Business Unit Managers in the areas of financial management and data interpretation.
• Assist human resources function in the development and negotiation of employee benefits plans.
• Assist sales and operations functions in the development of pricing and terms strategies.
• Assure use and adequacy of IT infrastructure within accounting and operation to provide valid data for analysis.
• Formulates, implements, and administers credit policies, methods, and procedures.
• Oversees the employee 401k plan in conjunction with Human Resources.
• Personally handles important, confidential accounting matters for officers/owners of the company.
• Travel required; monthly to US operations and bi-yearly/yearly to international operations.

BACKGROUND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor Degree required in Accounting or Finance.  CPA with MBA is preferred.
• A minimum of 10 years experience in corporate development/financial management preferably in the technology/manufacturing sector.
• Privately held diversified company background is preferred.
• Experience in accounting theory, GAAP, Federal and State taxes, SUBS, LLC and C corporations.
• Very detail oriented with strong leadership and project management skills.
• Excellent analytical, written communication and organizational skills.
• Team player with strong interpersonal skills; i.e., team building.
• Proven creative problem solving skills.
• Customer service driven, teamwork and detail orientated and professional.
